  • Google Updates its Hangouts App for iOS With Improvements to Functionality

Google released an updated version of its Google Hangouts application for iOS dubbed version 2.5.0 on Monday.

The updated version of the application, which is useful for keeping in touch with your friends, family, and co-workers, adds some additional features to improve on the functionality of the application, while still balancing the update with stability and performance improvements to keep the application working as expected.

Google Hangouts now offers some all-new sticker packs, which make it easier to express yourself to your friends while messaging them. The update also makes it much easier to share your location with friends when they ask where you are, gives you the ability to leave status messages that will let people know what you're up to, make it easier to find friends and family by phone number, see SMS and voice-mails from your Google Account, and more.

Video calling has been improved in this update to fix low quality calling and choppiness and should make it more reliable, especially on slower networks.

If you're an existing user of Google Hangouts for iOS, then this update is free for you under the Updates tab in the App Store application. If you have automatic updates enabled, then this update should have already been installed for you. For those that haven't tried it yet, Google Hangouts is a free download from this App Store link.
