  • 'The Interview' Available to Rent on YouTube, Google Play, Xbox Live, and Crackle

We reported yesterday that Sony had approached Apple in hopes of debuting ‘The Interview’ on iTunes but it was noted that Apple had declined the offer. Instead, those looking to watch the film can rent it for $5.99 or purchase it for $14.99 on Google Play, YouTube, Xbox Live, and Sony’s Crackle service. The film debuted on Christmas Day and was first available for rent on YouTube, Sony’s website, and Google Play. Then later the company confirmed that it would be available on Xbox Live and Crackle as well.

Those who don’t want to purchase or rent the film and would like to see it in theaters instead can find it being shown in select theaters in the U.S. But don’t expect just any movie theater to have it as most major chains cancelled the showing after a threat was sent to Sony. When Sony approached Apple to make a deal for iTunes, it was said that Apple felt Christmas Day was too soon and therefore declined to make it available to customers. Thanks to the group Art House Convergence, the film will be screened in about 250 small theaters across the U.S. when most major ones decided not have it.

Have you seen the movie yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Let us know in the comments below.
