  • Jeff Daniels: From Dumb and Dumber to Jobs Biopic?

The Aaron Sorkin-penned Steve Jobs biopic may not be proceeding smoothly, but it is indeed proceeding, despite recent high-profile casting stumbles that included the likes of Christian Bale and Natalie Portman passing on the project.

Nonetheless, a star-studded cast is still expected with the film set to enter production next spring. On Tuesday, The Wrap reported that Jeff Daniels, a celebrated actor from “The Newsroom” and, most recently, the Dumb and Dumber sequel, "is being eyed to play former Apple CEO John Sculley in Danny Boyle‘s Steve Jobs movie."

Sources at Universal, which procured rights to the film from Sony this year, say Michael Fassbender will play Steve Jobs with Seth Rogen tapped for Steve Wozniak.

Notwithstanding a slew of recent changes to the project, the same film that's been in the works for years now is still being made. The film is "expected to follow Jobs during three stressful, high-profile product launches including the first Macintosh in 1984 and Apple's 2001 debut of the iPod."
