  • China's Internet Regulator Meets with Cook, Zuckerberg

Apple CEO Tim Cook took a high level meeting with a gentleman from the Chinese government who serves as head of China’s Internet regulator.

According to Chinese media sources later picked up by U.S. press, the visiting official in question held meetings with both Cook and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

While few details are known about the meetings, these gatherings come at a time when both Apple and Facebook look to achieve considerable growth inside of the Chinese market.

The Chinese government is also silent as to what prompted Lu Wei, minister of the Cyberspace Administration of China, to visit with the prominent executives this week in California.

Although Apple already has a sizable foothold in China, Facebook hasn't been so fortunate.

"In September," Bloomberg reports, "state-run media quoted Lu as saying Facebook “cannot” win access in China anytime soon. While the network is formally blocked, it can be accessed through so-called proxy services or virtual private networks that sidestep government filters."
