  • China's Digione Smartphone Maker Claims Apple Copied Them on iPhone 6 Design

Apple is now facing claims in which Digione, a China smartphone marker is stating that the Cupertino-based company’s popular iPhone 6 and 6 Plus copied their smartphone devices. According to Macworld, a letter that was sent over to Apple back in September was published online recently. The letter sent to the Cupertino-based company was to notify them that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices may have violated a patent that was granted not too long ago. Digione’s devices are sold at much cheaper prices than Apple’s latest iPhones.

For around $130 USD, consumers can get a 5.5-inch displayed smartphone that uses the Android operating system. Apparently Digione had filed for a patent in the beginning of the year, but was not given the patent until July. Digione’s device also comes in a variety of similar colors as the iPhone 6 lineup. It was noted by Macworld that the Cupertino-based company did not respond to Digione when they reached out to them. Hence the reason why they decided to release the letter publicly.

It is ironic how the Chinese company is trying to publicly claim Apple copied their smartphone, yet when Chinese company XiaoMi basically created a knockoff of Apple’s recent iPhone, the Cupertino-based company didn’t do much. We would like to see how this pans out and how Apple will respond. What are your thoughts on this matter? Let us know in the comments below.

Have to remember though Apple works on designs for 2-3 iPhones ahead. So Apple prob had this design 1-2 yrs ago well ahead before his Chinese company had theirs. Just saying though.

I can only imagine their thought process.
"Guys, what do you think the next iPhone will be like?"
"Hmm. I think it'll come in black, silver, and gold and have a 5.5 inch display."
"Genius! Make the phone. We'll get so much money!"

Since the iPhone was the first, everything that follows was a copy if you look at it with that logic.

Seems like they're using a lawsuit to advertise their phone.

Considering the iPhone 6/6+ are essentially the same design used from the iPhone 4 forward except just larger in size... I don't see how anyone could possibly think that Apple infringed on anyone else's design at this point, especially not a product released just this year.

Also, there are so many distinguishable differences between the two phones that it's laughable.

Depends on if it's the Chinese courts. They have a history of siding with Chinese companies.

Even if Apple was working on it behind closed doors first, if the company was awarded a patent, that's all that matters.

Anyway, this is a go-nowhere case.
