  • Adobe Digital Index: Mobile Payment System Capabilities Will Win This Holiday Season

Adobe Digital Index has recently released a new analysis, which shows that consumers are more likely to purchase items when digital wallet payments are accepted on Internet based storefronts. The items sitting in customer’s carts are 10% more likely to be bought when mobile payment options are accepted. Apple’s new Apple Pay mobile payment system has been successful to say the least and is currently offered at many retail and restaurant locations. Some notable retail stores include Bloomingdales, Target, the Apple Store, the Disney Store, Panera, Whole Foods, and more. Users can now pay for items directly from their phones without even having to make a trip to stores physically, using Apple Pay.

It was noted by Adobe that 23% of transactions made online are made by using a different payment method and are most popular with smartphones. Because of this, Adobe went as far as saying that mobile payment offerings from online retailers will ‘win this holiday season’. This not only includes Apple Pay, but also PayPal, Google Wallet, and Amazon Payments. They also noted that Apple Pay will become the way to pay with those using Apple devices. According to Adobe:

Most retailers are initially excited about Apple Pay's implications for the in-store environment," said Tamara Gaffney, principal analyst at ADI. "In-store adoption of payment technology, however, typically takes longer because it means new systems at the store. So, as Apple Pay becomes more ubiquitous, its first win could very well be online.
Will you be using Apple Pay this season? Let us know in the comments below.

Besides Panera Bread, I can't find any local stores that accept apple pay. Oh well.
