  • iOS 8 is Running On 56% of iOS Devices As of This Week

As of the beginning of this Week, Apple's numbers on the App Store Distribution Web page showing how many devices are running iOS 8 in comparison to iOS 7, and earlier versions of iOS has updated with new numbers.

The chart is now displaying that 56% of iOS devices are now running iOS 8, while 40% are running iOS 7, and 5% are running a version earlier than iOS 7. That adds up to 101% more than 100% so Apple has rounded up one of those percentages.

The 56% installed base is an increase from the 48% that was shown off at the special event in October, which was almost one month ago; iOS 8 adoption is slowly creeping up.

iOS 8 brings users a number of new features, including third-party keyboards, third-party Notification Center widgets, more developer APIs, HealthKit, more integrated applications, quick reply, improved stock applications, improved SpotLight and Siri, and much more.

iOS 8.1.1 is nearing release as iOS 8.1.1 beta 1 has been out to developers for some time. The latest version of iOS 8 as of this writing is iOS 8.1 which is jailbreakable with the Pangu8 jailbreak. iOS 8.1.1 will not be vulnerable to the jailbreak.
