  • Apple Set to Open New Corporate Office and R&D Center in the UK

Apple is currently believed to be moving into 90 Hills Road in the Cambridge UK, which is a recently renovated office building with more than 9,000 square feet of floor space. The move into the city of Cambride, UK isnít too surprising as the area is an intellectual hotspot which already hosts the base of operations for a number of large tech companies. The other tech companies include Microsoft, Sony and Siemens alongside accounting firms Deloitte and KPMG.

According to BusinessWeekly, Apple will begin work on its UK site with roughly 20 employees but will be looking to expand to up to 40 people in the office in the near future. Itís unclear when the office is set to be staffed and as of right now, Appleís corporate jobs webpage doesnít show any openings related to the location either.

Once Apple opens an office in Cambridge, it will be joining the companyís corporate office in London. The move isnít a complete surprise considering the British government has been wooing Apple for 25 years in a bid to position the UK as a major player in the booming global tech industry. Aside from retail stores, the Cupertino California company has been working towards broadening its international footprint with many research and development centers including a new location in Shanghai and expansions at two of its offices in Israel.

Does this help getting us to get Apple will pay all the tax is due to the UK rather than hiding behind a company based in Ireland?
