  • Pangu Jailbreak Team Releases Version 1.2.1 of the Windows Jailbreak Tool for iOS 8

On Thursday, the Pangu jailbreak team has released a new version of the jailbreak tool for iOS 8 (version 1.2.1) for Windows to include the latest version of Cydia Installer (version 1.1.16). Saurik released the new Cydia installer yesterday to fix problems relating to restoring from a backup after restoring the device in iTunes.

With the Pangu jailbreak tool for Windows now including the latest version of Cydia Installer, users will no longer have to update it after jailbreaking with Pangu for iOS 8 it will automatically come baked right in.

The 1.2.1 release of Pangu for iOS 8 comes just a few days after the update to version 1.2, which included the new Pangu untether package that eliminated some bugs in the jailbreak.

If you're interested in jailbreaking your iOS 8 device with Pangu, you can follow our guide at this link. You may want to get your devices to iOS 8.1 soon though, because iOS 8.1.1 is right around the corner, and it patches the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8 (unfortunately).

The latest version of the Pangu jailbreak tool can be downloaded at this link.

should I restore and rejailbreak again? I jailbroke when it was still in Chinese and I had to install cydia from the pangu app. or am I good? my "other" space is like twice what it was on 7 though. what a bummer

There's no reason to. Just update your Pangu untether package and Cydia Installer to the latest version from Cydia's "Changes" tab.

Yes Anthony is correct, but I would stay on iOS 7.X.X as the 5C runs a lot smoother/quicker.

I think the jailbreak on iOS 8 runs pretty smoothly on my iPhone 5.

I wouldn't stay on iOS 7, because tweaks aren't being made for iOS 7 anymore. Everything is being migrated to iOS 8 now.

Hmm, I have 8.1 on Iphone 5 and it runs as good as 7 did? Plus you will be unable to :
Use IOS new apps since they always require the latest IOS major version
      New Tweaks
JB later since it will be closed
      Restore and JB

I advise upgrade now before 8.1.1

I'm happy to hear both you Anthony are having no lag, and no decrease in battery life.

26 hours 5 left alone with 8.1 and JB

WiFi on and still had 94% batterylife.

So it seems to me its what settings you have on that drains the battery.

      For instance
      I have 0 notifications
      Mail checked Manually
      no auto updates
      Only Messages and phone on

Before upgrading to the 6 plus I used both my 5 & 5S as complete smartphones as designed. That said, perhaps I needed to limit my smartphone to just a phone/text device to achieve said results. Again, I'm glad both you and Anthony are having favorable results.

I need a few more confirmations that 32 bit devices run smoothly on iOS 8 before I upgrade my iPhone 5.

Hmm, how does constant email checking, Face book posting and banner Ad notifications truly enhance a smartphone?.

      I use mine to

      Place phone calls
Manually check email every 60 to 120 minutes
      text
      read and post ModmyI
      surf internet
      Look up medications for patients
      look up diagnosis
      read docs from Google docs
      do calculations
      watch you tube
      play music
      Google maps directions
      book hotel and flights
      Buy and sell on Ebay
      Take pictures.
      read news and weather
      plan my work week

May have left out a few but it like looks like I use it more than just a phone😇

It so easy to blame problems with IOS as a bug it may not be at all:

      Something went wrong during install
Older apps not working well with new ios
Older apps not working well with newer apps or tweaks

Tweaks not working well with your apps or IOS

      JB did not install well?

I see these as many if the problems, just posting "IOS 8.1" does not work well with iphone 5 or 5c or 5s is well anecdotal at best.

Due to my line of work I need fetch email. That said, my comment was a direct response to what you initially said (phone/text vs battery life), so for future reference be sure to communicate clearly how you use your device as it appears you're doing a lot than what you initially said.

Fetch or push? I think one is a less battery drainer.

Hmm I said what I had turned off

      ok

We can call what we want, right? Bottom line is I'm not manually checking. Also, you were not clear on what you were using initially, but as you would say "okay".

Actually they're quite different. Push takes much more battery.
