  • Andy Rubin Leaves Google to Help Hardware Startups

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Andy Rubin, Google’s former head of Android has decided to leave the company. It has been mentioned that he plans on focusing on hardware startups and helping those companies get started. Rubin was first the head of Android and then in 2013 took on the robotics division instead. Rubin also worked at Apple for three years from 1989-1992 before moving over to Google. Google CEO Larry Page thanked Rubin for all that he’s done for the company:

I want to wish Andy all the best with what's next. With Android he created something truly remarkable—with a billion plus happy users. Thank you.
Another report from The Information is saying however, that Rubin is leaving Google for other reasons. It has been said that former Android head is departing due to the structure of his team at Google and was looking for a ‘different arrangement.’ It is unclear as to whether these are real facts or just rumors. After Rubin’s departure, James Kuffner will be replacing his position at Google.
