  • Cydia Substrate for iOS 8 Receives Additional Updates With Fixes for Issues

Saurik updated the Cydia Substrate package via Cydia twice last night each update bringing additional bug fixes and improvements for the jailbreak on Pangu for iOS 8.x.

The first update, which is dubbed version 0.9.5014 was released to fix problems with iTunes synchronizing and disappearing application icons on the Home Screen. Saurik then followed up with an additional update dubbed version 0.9.5015 to fix issues regarding OpenSSH and some other processes failing to start.

To update, open Cydia on your jailbroken device(s) and go to the Changes tab. From here, you will want to refresh your sources. You will then see an update for Cydia Substrate if you have an older version of it installed on your device. You can then install it without rebooting, respringing, or anything of that sort.

The Pangu jailbreak team and Saurik are working closely to get Cydia integrated with the next release of the Windows version of the Pangu jailbreak tool. At this point in time, the tool does not install Cydia with your jailbreak and you have to install Cydia manually via SSH. The future version of the tool will not only support bundling Cydia, but will also be available in English and will kill the iMessage and Mobile Safari bugs right out of the box. A Mac OS X version of the tool is expected in the distant future.
