  • Official Yelp App for iOS Gets the Retina HD Treatment, New Useful Directions Button

Following a long string of other popular applications in the iOS App Store, the popular Yelp application for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad has been updated on Monday with some improvements in the latest version: 8.7.0.

Yelp has been given the retina HD display treatment, which means that the application will now look great on your shiny new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus without looking all zoomed in and blurred out of focus. The keyboard, Status Bar, tab bar, navigation bar, pop-ups, and several other elements of the application now fit just how they should on these new devices.

In addition, Yelp has improved the Directions button in the application, which will tell you how to get to a location that you've looked up using the Yelp application. The new Directions button now quickly estimates how long it'll take you to get to the place you've searched and shows it right on the button. Tapping on the button re-directs you to Apple's Maps application with directions on how to get there.

If you're an existing user of the Yelp application for iOS, then you'll find this new update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Yelp for iOS for free from this App Store link.
