  • Apple Stores Pulling the Plug on Fitbit Devices?

The scuttlebutt in the world of Apple news today indicates that Apple will soon -- and very soon at that - stop selling Fitbit devices.

With Apple firmly planting its flag in the wearables space with the recent unveiling of Apple Watch, it's only a matter of time before said smartwatch reaches consumers. And when it does, Apple doesn't want to share the stage on its own retail turf with a leading competitor in the wearables market.

As Lauren Goode of Re/code points out, however, Apple's purported plans to halt sales of Fitbit products comes just days after Fitbit confirmed publicly that it is “evaluating integration with HealthKit.”

Perhaps Apple's decision to stop selling Fitbit devices will help Fitbit push ahead with that integration a little faster. With Fitbit claiming some 70% of all sales of fitness tracking devices in the U.S over the past year, it's powerfully evident that Fitbit has a commanding share that Apple is going to want a piece of in 2015.
