Proving once again that Macs continue to see stronger adoption across academia, a new report from NPD Group shared with MMi today reveals that, impressively, Macs now account for more than 25% of all back to school PC sales so far this year.

U.S. consumer retail PC sales grew almost 3 percent during the 10 week Back-to-School period (week of July 4th through Labor Day week) after sipping by 2.5 percent in the previous year, the report introduction reads.

The NPD Group Weekly Tracking Service shows that "Apple and Chrome OS led the sales drive with Chrome OS unit sales increasing 37 percent over 2013 and Mac OS-based products up 14 percent."

"Apple notebooks were one of the star performers this year with sales up 16 percent over last Back-to-School with the most significant increase over the last three weeks of the period growing 27 percent," the report explains.

Countless industry groups and market analysts call for Apple's strong numbers in the back-to-school PC market to only grow stronger in the years to come.
