  • Citibank Begins Promoting Apple Pay to Customers

Although Citibank announced its support for Apple Pay back on September 9th, when Apple's mobile payments solution was first announced, only today has the financial powerhouse begun aggressively promoting its support of Apple's new platform.

Citibank confirms that it now has 200 million customer accounts around the world, and while Apple Pay is only available domestically for now, the team at Citi is making it clear that U.S. customers should embrace Apple Pay for the utmost in payment convenience.

"Whether they are buying in stores or online from merchants in apps, payment happens in a single touch," Citi tells its cardmembers. In October, the company says, Citi will be introducing to U.S. credit and debit cardmembers the ability to add their eligible Citi card to Apple Pay.

And we're told a major marketing push will follow in the coming weeks to spread the work about Citi's support for Apple Pay.

“We know that consumers today are looking to make payments in a way that fits with their lifestyles. Citi is continuously looking for ways to enhance our cardmembers’ payment experience and our integration with Apple is one more way to deliver a convenient way to pay,” says Barry Rodrigues, Head of Enterprise Payments at Citi.
