  • First CarPlay-Equipped Vehicles Start Hitting the Streets with the Ferrari FF

Vehicles equipped with Apple’s new CarPlay functionality seem to finally be hitting the streets with Ferrari recently announcing that it has delivered its first set of Ferrari FF models that are equipped with the new feature. The car manufacturer also noted that Apple’s CarPlay functionality will be made available on its new Ferrari California T as well. The move makes Ferrari the first car manufacturer to adopt Apple's CarPlay functionality and the first to deliver on its promise.

Although Apple’s original announced a handful of partners that would deliver CarPlay this year, the Cupertino California company ended up delaying the launch last month. Some car manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz and Volvo confirmed that support for the feature will be arriving sometime next year (2015) as a result while others such as Hyundai haven’t rolled out the updates they promised or mentioned anything. As of right now Apple still lists Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo as the partners that will be delivering CarPlay this year - a list which clearly needs to be updated based on two of the partners already delaying their CarPlay launch.

Those of you interested in watching a video of Apple’s CarPlay functionality in action in the new Ferrari FF can watch the video released by the car manufacturer below:

Are any of you excited about CarPlay functionality? It seems like it would be extremely useful for those who are already vested in the iOS ecosystem.
