  • New Channels Land on Apple TV

Ahead of the long-anticipated launch of a refreshed Apple TV (it's been well over 2 years since the hardware was updated), Apple has just rolled out new channels to its increasingly popular set-top box.

This morning, Apple TV owners were pleasantly surprised to discover the addition of Showtime Anytime and a dedicated iTunes Festival channel -- a particularly timely addition given that the 2014 iTunes Festival in London will begin Monday.

In recent days, Apple confirmed that this year's concert series will feature an ample array of music superstars, including Maroon 5, Pharrell Williams, Beck, Sam Smith, Blondie, Kylie, David Guetta, 5 Seconds of Summer, Calvin Harris, and Chrissie Hynde among others.

All told, this will likely be the final iTunes festival to be broadcast on the current-generation Apple TV. Several prominent analysts and Wall Street watchers believe that September will bring with it more than just a refreshed iPhone, but also a new Apple TV among other refreshed goodies from the Apple product line.
