  • Apple Retail Stores Begin Offering On-Site iPhone 5S Screen Replacements

Apple Retail Stores recently started conducting the previously mentioned on-site iPhone 5S screen replacements, allowing customers with damaged displays to have their iPhone 5S assessed and potentially repaired. According to several reports, users who had damaged iPhone 5S screens were able to visit an Apple Store and in most cases, have their broken screen swapped out for a brand new one within roughly an hour. Customers had to previously ship their iPhone 5S to Apple for servicing and replacement, a process that used to take up to five days. It should be noted that the service appears to be rolling out to Apple Stores across the US but it has not been made available at all locations just yet.

Another important thing to note is that the iPhone 5S screen replacement program is identical to Appleís existing on-site display repair options in that customers need to bring the handset in for evaluation, which is when they will be provided with a turn-around-time and a price estimate. Apple employees will assess how the screen was broken and check whether the hardware is protected by AppleCare+. Those who own the extended warranty plan are likely to pay $149 per repair, whereas off-site replacements tend to be more expensive in many cases. Accidental breakage isnít covered under Appleís free limited one-year warranty so those of you who think you may be covered, should know you arenít.

Apple Store technicians then examine the phone for water damage and other hardware failures that may end up requiring off-site repair or replacement. If your phone doesnít have an alarming hardware failure, Apple can take care of the issue in-store with what many speculate is the same machine that handles iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C screen repairs.

Hopefully many of you arenít in the situation where youíll need such a service and donít find yourself in one. For those of you who are already in the situation where you need your iPhone 5S screen repaired or replaced, have you utilized the new service?
