  • Apple Reportedly Cutting 200 Jobs from Beats during its Acquisition

Apple is reportedly cutting roughly 200 jobs from Beats Electronics as it prepares to take control of the company. According to sources who spoke with the folks over at the New York Post, these employees are to be laid off before the $3 billion deal is set to close on the 1st of August. The publication went on to note that 200 employees currently represent 40% of Beats’ global workforce, which will be filled by Apple internally as the acquisition takes place.

Most of the jobs that are set to be cut are said to be in overlapping areas such as finance and human resources among others. This isn’t much of a surprise as having multiple people assigned to the same task seems a bit redundant. As of right now, some of the remaining Beats employees will remain in the current facility in the Los Angeles area while others will reportedly transfer to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino California.

Apple reportedly issued a statement to the folks over at Re/code stating that some of the Beats employees have only received temporary offers from Apple as part of the transition. Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr explained the situation further by stating the following regarding the matter:

We’re excited to have the Beats team join Apple, and we have extended job offers to every Beats employee. Because of some overlap in our operations, some offers are for a limited period and we’ll work hard during this time to find as many of these Beats employees as we can another permanent job within Apple.

Beats website has been updated announcing the acquisition and how it affects the consumer. All online orders/returns will be handled via the Apple Store, etc.etc.. So I guess the whole online ordering department of Beats has/will been cut unfortunately.

Thats just wrong in my opinion, Apple should find them all permanent jobs; it's not like they can't afford it
