  • Apple Discounts and Continues to Sell Legacy MacBook Pros

Although the older MacBook Pro doesn’t have a Retina display and has several other downsides such as a heavier frame and an old-fashioned hard drive it seems to have survived the latest lineup refresh. One of the only new things about the model is its recent price cut of $100, for a total price of $1,099. The technical specifications for the non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro continue to remain the same as well.

The Cupertino California company continued to offer non-Retina 15- and 13-inch models until the end of October last year. That is when the 15-inch legacy MacBook Pro was discontinued and from the looks of it, the same might happen this year with the current legacy models.

For those of you who want a professional grade notebook, the remaining 13-inch model with the disc drive continues to remain the cheapest option as it comes $200 cheaper than the entry Retina 13-inch model. Furthermore, this model was given both a processor upgrade (now a 2.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5) and a RAM upgrade (now 8 GB of Ram) as well. As usual with Apple’s MacBooks, users are given a range of upgrades that vary in pricing as well.

Although at this point the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lineups have been updated this year, rumors continue to suggest that Apple isn’t done with its MacBook announcements just yet. A rumor of a new 12-inch notebook with a high-resolution Retina display and a completely new external design continues to float around. We’ll have to wait and see if the rumor turns out to be true though.
