  • Apple Seeds New Safari Betas for OS X Mavericks and Mountain Lion

Apple recently seeded new builds of Safari 7.1 for OS X 10.9 Mavericks and Safari 6.2 for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion to developers. The Cupertino California company asked developers to focus on both credit card and password autofill features. There aren’t many changes from the initial release of Safari 7.1 and 6.2. in the new beta builds.

IndexedDB, CSS Shapes and Compositing, and Javascript Promises features in WebGL-powered 3D renderings were brought to Apple’s WebKit engine and browser in the original builds of Safari 6.2 for Mountain Lion and 7.1 for Mavericks. Both the WebKit and WebGL modifications seen in the recent beta builds are expected to see wider adoption in OS X 10.10 Yosemite and iOS 8 along with the upcoming Safari updates.

Developers are also asked to concentrate on “general website compatibility” including subpixel rendering and CSS model getters in the current builds. Last but not least, Apple asked developers to test Safari extensions. Interested developers can download the recent beta builds of Safari 7.1 for Mavericks and Safari 6.2 for Mountain Lion through Apple’s Developer Portal.
