  • Apple TVís WatchESPN to Stream U.S. vs Portugal World Cup Game


    American cable subscribers with Apple TV can thank Appleís partnership with ESPN. Subscribers can access highlights, additional content for all 64 FIFA World Cup matches, and streaming coverage including Sundayís U.S. and Portugal game. Apple TVís WatchESPN channel will be playing live coverage of all World Cup games through July 13th broadcasted by ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes. Subscribers from cable networks DISH, XFINITY, AT&T U-Verse, Verizon FIOS TV, Charter, Bright House Networks, Google Fiber, Optimum, Time Warner Cable, and Midcontinent Communications will be able to watch the live coverage.

    WatchESPN also shows replays , footage and highlights from the tactical cam in addition to live streams. It also has college basketball and football games, the Masters, NBA playoffs and more. Appleís senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, stated:

    HBO GO and WatchESPN are some of the most popular iOS apps and are sure to be huge hits on Apple TV. We continue to offer Apple TV users great new programming options, combined with access to all of the incredible content they can purchase from the iTunes Store.
    Viewers outside of the U.S. can access the World Cup games using native iOS apps and AirPlay to push content to Apple TV. This feature is supported by BBC iPlayer and iTV for UK viewers, CBC app for Canada, Univisionís native app in Spanish, SBS app for Australia, RT… app for Ireland, and other regional providers that are affiliated with FIFA World cup broadcasting.
