  • Next Generation iPad Air Supposedly In The Works

It has been reported that Apple will begin production of the next generation iPad Air sometime this month. According to ETNews, the design of the new device is supposed to mimic the current model, with the resolution staying at 2048x1563. However, the new iPad Air is supposed to have a more advanced A8 processor, which follows what previous sources said about the new iPhone (and will likely be the same for the iPad).

Sources also say that Apple has developed a new A8 system-on-a-chip for the next iPhone that focuses on marginal speed improvements rather than core architectural changes, but adds significant performance and efficiency enhancements in order to improve the iPhone’s battery life. With a larger, higher-resolution display combined with the next iPhone’s far thinner body, the A8 chip will be essential to maintaining the seamless, fluid iPhone experience that Apple prides itself on.
The rear camera of the device should be improving from the current 5-megapixel sensor to an 8-megapixel sensor, meanwhile the front camera will improve from 1.2-megapixels to 1.5-megapixels. Although it seems like a very small improvement, it should make a big difference for Photo Booth picture quality and FaceTime calls. Nothing was mentioned in regards to Touch ID, but the new device will have an addition of the finger point scanner.

Apple is said to be working on a new iPad mini and another model with split screen app multitasking along with the iPad Air. The iPad Air and iPad mini should be coming sometime this fall, but the ‘Pro’ model is unclear as to when it’ll be released.

I'm not getting daily crashes but occasionally and not the obvious ones neither.

I have to check Diagnostics to see that it was a crash.

Won't buy another one till OS X is on it, full MS Office Suite and a few other key items for business use. To me the current iPad is a toy..not a tool.

I used to get axcited about the latest and greatest, but now I'm pretty cool with what I have until it stops working well with the latest OS/apps. Rigut now I had the iPad3 and it still works fine and runs everything like a champ. I only upgraded from my 4S to 5S because my phone contract has subsidy built in whether I get a new phone or not, and after selling the 4S I paid virutally nothing extra.

Outsider complain Apple does things to try to get people to upgrade faster, but anything that seems that way is minor at best. Fact is, Apple does an amazing job of supporting their older hardware: way better than anyone else IMHO. You need only to look to the next best competitor, Samsung, so see how poorly the rest do in comparison.

So Apple can add whatever to the next iPad. Unfortunately for them, they built their and support old hardware way too well for me to even think of upgrading for another year. Android may have some cheaper tablets, but if you have to buy new hardware twice as often to keep up with the latest software, you're paying as much anyway!

Sounds like a problem with your iPad, not the RAM. I run my iPad 3 on the latest OS with music and apps running in the background with no trouble or crashing.
