  • Filippo Bigarella and Surenix Tease Upcoming ActiveBoard Tweak for iOS 7

You may remember a jailbreak tweak that we reviewed back in February of last year called ActiveDock by iOS developer Filippo Bigarella and graphical designer Surenix that would animate the iOS 6 application dock on the Home Screen to behave more like that of the dock on Mac OS X. This meant bouncing applications when you had a notification, and little lights on the dock when you had the application running.

The two-man development team announced on Wednesday via Twitter that they are about to release a new jailbreak tweak called ActiveBoard. Unlike ActiveDock, which focused primarily on the application dock only, ActiveBoard will focus on the entire Home Screen of application icons.

Surenix shared on Dribbble some details about the upcoming tweak that may interest those of you looking forward to the release:

ActiveBoard delivers new pulsing lights and fluid animation style to your home screen icons. Red pulsing lights will notify you when there are unread/missed notifications (so feel free to turn off those pesky Badge App Icon) and white pulsing lights to indicate which applications are truly running in the background. We aimed to design alongside iOS 7 to give users a better solution, but still as native as ever, to quickly see unread/missed notifications or which applications are truly running in the background (without accessing the app switcher).

Available on Cydia May 23, 2014.
With some obvious differences from ActiveDock, ActiveBoard will use pulsing lights and animations to your Home Screen to help let you know when you have notifications and when applications are running in the background.

ActiveBoard will become available in Cydia this Friday, May 23rd. If you're an existing customer of ActiveDock, then ActiveBoard will be a free upgrade for you. If not, it will be a $1.99 purchase. We will keep you updated on the release as more information surfaces!

I hope it is more subtle than that. That looks incredibly annoying.
