  • Angela Ahrendts Has 3 Major Focuses on the Future of Apple Retail


    Angela Ahrendts joined Apple less than a month ago, and already has a plan of action in mind for improving the online and retail Apple store customer experience. 9to5Mac has noted that in a detailed report, the retail leader has three areas of focus to revamp Apple retail 1) Redesign end-to-end Apple Store sales experience 2) China and 3) Mobile payments.

    Ahrendts has said to have aimed for an overhaul of the end-to-end Apple Store sales experience, customer interactions with employees, reimagining product discovery as well as mobile payment options. Other improvements may include the company’s trade-in-program, personal setups, and over the phone service. According to the retail leader:

    Ahrendts and new online stores VP Kupbens are seeking to improve mobile payments in Apple's retail stores and mobile apps for both the online and in-person purchases. Ahrendts is said to be eyeing a major focus on blurring the lines between Apple's online and physical stores in order to improve the overall experience for Apple customers.
    The retail leader has stated that growth in China is extremely important and represents a major market where the company has yet to gain a strong foothold of. Apple had 7% of total smartphone market share in the country as of February, but has managed to secure deals with every major carrier in China over the course of one year.

    As previous CEO of luxury designer, Burberry, Ahrendts was known for recreating the company’s entire shopping experience and it is believed that she would be bringing the same types of changes to Apple as well. Especially because the company is expected to launch many new products, including the iWatch and iPhone 6.
