  • Apple Launches New "Kids" Section in the App Store

Apple has launched a new Kids section in the App Store with iOS 7 that makes it easier for parents to be able to tell what age groups that applications are aimed at. Apple e-mailed developers on August 18th letting them know that they should get ready for this section before it was launched.

The applications in this section are hand-picked by Apple.

There are multiple subsections in the Kids section, including for ages five and under, for ages six to eight, and for ages nine to eleven. In addition, the section also includes a subsection that is called "Games for kids," which is literally a games-only section. The other subsections may include more than just games, such as educational applications.

You can check out the new section in the App Store right now.

Notably, Apple also launched a "Designed for iOS 7" section in the App Store yesterday that allows those just upgrading to iOS 7 to download applications that have been updated with new interfaces and features to take advantage of the features available in iOS 7.
