  • Apple Discontinues Cards App Services

Getting this message while trying to make a card in Apple's Cards app? – You're not alone.

Following a number of user complaints about the Cards application that Apple launched in 2011 no longer functioning, Apple made a post in the Support section of their Web site noting that they are discontinuing the service:

Cards ordered before 1 PM Pacific time on September 10, 2013, will be delivered, and push notifications will continue to work.

You can view your previous purchases by tapping Saved Cards in the app.

Note: You can still order beautiful letterpress cards customized with your photos and text using iPhoto on your Mac. Cards ordered through iPhoto are shipped through a carrier such as FedEx rather than through the United States Post Office.
Cards allowed the user to customize a card for multiple purposes, such as Birthdays, holidays, greetings, get well soon, and more. The card would then be printed and mailed out to the recipient with little effort on the user’s part, for a small fee.

Although the service is no longer available for users, the application is still available in the App Store for free via this App Store link. We’re unsure why this is the case, but Apple may soon pull the application from the App Store to prevent confusion.

Apple notes that users can still opt for making cards in iPhoto even though the Cards application service is being shut down.

Shame they didn't push it more. It's a great service that I've used quite extensively. For birthdays of older relatives, thank you cards and to send to the girl when I was in Europe. Sucks! But I believe there are alternatives out there for sure.

It is very nice services, that I have utilized in a careless manner . For birthdays of more mature family , give thanks you credit cards and to propel to the lady after i was in . Sucks ! Yet In my opinion you can find substitutes on the market of course .
