  • Kik Messenger Updated to Version 6.5 - Adds Stickers, Third-Party Games and More

Kik users will be happy to hear about a major update for the iOS client which was posted to the App Store earlier today. The update brings the popular messaging app to version 6.5 and hops on the recent sticker's trend, adds third-party games, and more. The stickers in version 6.5 work just like you would expect them to and you can embed the emotion-like imagines into any of your conversations. As far as the third-party game offers go, launch titles include new releases by companies such as Zynga and TreSensa.

A full change log of the update can be found below:

    • Say more with Stickers!
    • New games by Zynga and TreSensa available in More
    • Option to talk to new people without adding them to your contacts
    • Performance improvements
Kik Messenger has offered its own in-app games for a while now but this is the first time that it has opened its platform up to other developers. The Zynga title included is a puzzle game called One Word and it looks like the TreSensa game will be “coming soon.” As for the stickers, there’s not a whole lot to say about them. They definitely seem to be popular in the space right now as apps such as Path saw financial gain since adding them. Kik includes a handful of starter stickers and sells packs for about $2.

As many of you probably already know, the Kik messaging service is cross-platform, meaning it's available on a wide range of devices and is very popular with more than 50 million users worldwide. If you’re interested in trying the app, you can do so for free from the App Store.

The fact that an iPad version of this app does not exist blows my mind. If its so popular why can't they take the time to make an iPad app?
