ViewsSSH on WindowsFrom ModMyi - WikiHere's an easy approach on using SSH on Windows. NOTE: You need a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch, with OpenSSH installed on it. (You can get OpenSSH from Cydia or Installer; if you use Installer, you also need to install BSD Subsystem.) [edit] Connecting for the first time1. Get WinSCP from here. 2. After downloading, launch the installer to install WinSCP. 3. Connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your Wi-Fi network 4. Now launch WinSCP 5. Now under host name, type your iPhone/iPod Touch's IP address. (To find your IP address, just go to Settings -> Wi-Fi -> and click on the blue network next to the network you're connected to)
7. It might display an error message like this: Click Yes. 8. Now it'll ask for a username and password. Try these two combinations. Depending on your firmware, one of them will work.
9. You're in! Now you have full access to your iPhone/iPod Touch on your computer using Wi-Fi. 10. Important: You should now change the passwords on your iPhone or iPod touch, otherwise it is vulnerable to hacker attacks whenever you're on a public network (a public WiFi, or even in some circumstances your 3G/EDGE/GPRS connection). This means that someone could steal your personal information (saved passwords, address book, emails, sms messages) or mess up your device.
and change the password for the root account from what it was (probably alpine) to your own choice.
and answer the questions (the password is also alpine by default). It is OK to use the same password you used for the root account. [edit] Connecting after the first timeThe second and later times, it is easier and faster to connect. You start WinSCP and do step 5 (above). You can also enter the user name (root) in that dialog box. And, if you think it will be safe on this computer, enter the new password you created in step 10 above. To make the whole process even faster, you can enter a name for this "profile" and press Save, so the next time you will just have to select that profile. [edit] Turning OpenSSH on and offOpenSSH will not run unless someone tries to connect to it using tools like WinSCP. However, you may want to disable it completely for reasons of safety. This can be done with a multitude of tools on the iPhone or iPod touch, all available for free through Cydia, including:
