People can now check the availability of iPhone 3GS at their local stores online, just like the last 2 years. This is a much needed service as usually Apple is low on stocks and people have to return empty handed. The page will refresh regularly with the latest stock info so you don't have to move out . . . Users can check if the exact model they'd like to buy is available, that is, 16GB/ 32 GB and Black/ White.
P.S. Currently the stock seems to be pretty strong! I believe Apple has already 'arranged' sufficient phones to avoid inconvenience like the last time.
There seems to be some new issues with the iPhone 3GS, besides the sound issues reported before. Instead of cracking like the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS turns brown if overheated!
A user claims discoloration of his iPhone due to overheating, possibly because of excessive 3G and GPS usage. It seems like an outline of the battery inside which got overheated badly, though not bad enough to burn someone's lap . . .
Sorry Apple, jailbreakers win again. Nice try tho. Try harder on the 4G

Earlier today, we got our hands on the bootrom. With the help of chronic, posixninja, and pod2g, I verified that it is still vulnerable to the 24kpwn exploit present in the iPod Touch 2G. This is great news for all of you. Basically, this means if someone makes a tethered jailbreak, it becomes untethered, because the boot chain is broken. Expect big things soon =)
On a personal note, I'm sad. Apple, it took me a week to break through your new defenses. And to let us reuse an
Yesterday Apple approved an update to a NSFW app called "Hottest Girls". The update made the app to be first on the store having nude content. Seems that with the 3.0 Parental controls, Apple won't babysit you anymore and leave it to your parents!
The app was given a 17+ rating for Frequent/Intense Sexual Content/Nudity, which it actually does contain . . . Before the app simply used to contain pictures of girls in bikinis but this new update adds topless pictures as well.

We uploaded nude topless pics today. This is the first app to have nudity.
The new 3G[S] has been ripped apart and a Bill of Materials (BOM) has been put together outlining individual parts and their cost to Apple.
Interestingly the now "base" model 16gb version runs almost the same build cost as last years 3G. And although you would think for this reason and obvious "at first glance" conclusions that most internals have been kept from the previous 3G....that is actually not the case.
Quote:
The entry-level, 16Gbyte version of Apple Inc.’s new iPhone 3G S carries a BOM cost of $172.46 and a manufacturing expense of $6.50, for a total of $178.96," said Andrew Rassweiler, director and principal analyst, teardown services, for iSuppli. "This is slightly higher than iSuppli’s estimate of $174.33 for the original 8Gbyte iPhone 3G based on pricing in July 2008. Although the retail price of the 16Gbyte iPhone 3G S is $199, the same as for the 8Gbyte version of the original iPhone 3G, the actual price of the phone paid by the service provider is considerably higher, reflecting the common wireless industry
Apple has updated it's Apple TV software to 2.4. The list of changes is below:

In the above video is a demo of latest version of Zodttd's PSX4iPhone. What's new here is that it is running not on iPhone 3G but, the iPhone 3GS. Zodttd just updated his blog saying that he has now got the emulator running on 3GS and with the higher framerate and faster processor, the gameplay is much more crisp and not laggy like the iPhone 3G.
You'd wonder how did he do that as 3GS is not yet Jailbroken. The answer is really simple, he can make some special builds in limited quantities that can be placed (alongwith the bios) into public directory using tools like DiskAid etc. It is THAT simple!
To get one of the limited builds, all you have to do is e-mail him your 40 character UUID at zodttd[at]zodttd[dot]com and follow the payment instructions he sends to make a $10 payment. It's not much money if you want to get that VIP tag. ... [Read More]
Though the jailbroken iPhones does NOT need Push notification, it can still be pretty much useful (and fancy!) in some cases and maybe will even bring new kind of apps on Cydia soon.
KennyTM (the same guy who created GRiP, Growl for iPhone) has developed a small extension to MobileSubstrate - called FakePushNotification - that lets developers add push notification to their apps using some simple code. To install the extension, simply get it off the googlecode page and the files in following directories using SSH.
I really thought this article was interesting and tasteful at that.... it hard to believe that the iPhone can do such a cool thing! There is nothing better in life than beautiful artwork. Jorge Colombo bought his first iphone the beginning of February. Once he bought his iphone he purchased the app brushes to entertain himself. He started drawing when he was seven years of age... (Most people that are excellent with drawing and painting do start at a young age or they are gifted)
His artwork is superb and tasteful! I love the cover that made it for the New Yorker he made with brushes... EXCELLENT JOB and no wonder it made the cover... take a look below at his artwork... hard to believe he did this with his iphone and app brushes..
To see how he painted this follow the link below.. you can watch a video of him painting it. He also used Brush Viewer to capture each step of how he composed the... [Read More]
The GameBone pro looks like a bone. A dog bone. But its actually one of the world's first iPhone OS 3.0 compatible 8-way D-pad 6 buttons game controller to incorporate a 2000mAh battery, both Bluetooth and Apple's 30-pin dock connector connectivity, built-in speaker and 3.5 audio headphone jack.
Slated to come out Sept of 09, the thing will come with a stand to support vertical or portrait modes, and "a clip-on rotating 'I' stand that will allow the GameBone Pro to be attached to the iPhone / iPod touch while in use."
You may remember the iControlPad... which was supposed to be frickin sexy, but never really came to fruition.
The guys at 22Moo are releasing an SDK for the device soon, hit up their site to register for notification when it launches.
