DFU mode

Hey all! I have a Iphone 3G and I am trying to download Redsn0w 0.9.2 but when I try to get it into DFU mode, nothing happens. All the computer says is it's waiting for the iphone to restart but it never does. Is there something else that can be done?? I have 3.1.3 firmware unfortunately.

If the thing boots into 3.1.3, you should be able to use Spirit to jailbreak that. It's as easy as it gets. To get out of the black screen (DFU mode), disconnect it from your computer and hold the home and sleep buttons continuously until you see the apple logo on the phone.
