I am not 100% positive but I think it would get wiped on a restore. It doesnt really change the IMEI it just spoofs it.

well ive already known that but im guessing/hoping its enough for att to not recognize it. and i dont have the stones to risk getting my iphone stuck in recovery mode or something

Yes, it will work I'm using a 2g with 3.0. Not easy but it does work!
I cant get the link I need from work, but you need a clean version of 3.0.
Try google Ziphone IMEI change there is a few sites that cover it.
