Trying to upgrade ziphone to pwn 2.1 PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Okay, my head is melted.

I have been trawling through these forums the last few hours and I have tried everything so I must be doing something wrong.

My 1st gen iphone is running ziphone 3.0 at 1.1.4 Firmware.

I try to restore to 2.1 firmware in itunes but I get the error 5, infact if I try to restore to any version firmware I get the 5 error. I tried putting the phone into dui mode but I get the same error.

I'm tearing my hair out. How do I do this?!!!!

ziphone is not intended to work past 1.1.4.

Use a custom firmware or use quickpwn. Better and safer then ziphone.

I know but what I'm saying is that when I try to restore the firmware to 2.1 in itunes so that I can then install win pwn it wont let me. This is my problem.

DUI mode. lol.

Try pressing shift, then clicking the restore button. See if that works.

Uninstall iTunes completely, install version 7.7, don't have a link but err.. Google it, you'll find it. Then try to find an unmodified version of iphone firmware 2.0, 2.0.1, or 2.0.2; and restore to it. After that, you can upgrade iTunes back to 8.x and upgrade to 2.1.
