Default How do i totally restore iphone after using ziphone to unlock and jailbreak?

I have heard rumours about ziphone does somthing to the bootloader or something but i am in the position where i have to return my iphone to apple. Long story ...

But i need help to fully restore my iphone so that apple can not detect i have unlocked and jailbreaked. I did this using ziphone.

Please can someone tell me how to do this?

Just do a DFU restore to FW 1.1.4. After you restore, setup as new in itunes.

Hold the Power and Home button for seven seconds. Then keep holding as the phone turns off. Eventually, a "plug into iTunes" image will appear, and then restore it in iTunes.

    Good Luck

I wish I could hellp, but I'm not an unlocker. Just a jailbreaker. If you had just jailbreaked, a restore is all you need to virginize. When you unlock, I believe (and don't kill me if I'm wrong as I've already admitted I'm not familir with unlocking), but I believe most unlocking methods require baseband changes, sometimes bootloader changes, and those may not be reversed depending on method used.

    DFU Restore:
    1. Connect to your computer, hold the power and home buttons down (the iphone will power off after about 10 seconds, but keep holding both buttons down)
    2. As soon as the iPhone powers off, (black screen) release the power button (but keep holding the home button down). (If you see the apple logo or connect to itunes logo you are not in DFU mode so try it again)
    3. After about 20 seconds or so, Itunes should see your iphone. It is now safe to release the home button, and your iPhone is in DFU mode.
Now iTunes should ask you to restore its firmware.

Restore to 1.1.4 and jailbreak with iliberty+ or leave as is and take to the apple store.

Tried everything - still comes out unlocked after a restore, out of DFU mode, out of regular mode, after refurbishing.. whatever.

No clue of what to do - since my iPhone is crashing constantly and I'm 4500 miles away from the nearest Apple store.

i actually need to take mine to the apple store this week and i believe by using pwnage, i unlocked mine too (even though i'm on AT&T). is there a way to tell if you're phone is unlocked or not? and if it is unlocked, i second the question on how you un-unlock it... or would i need to if all i'm doing is exchanging it due to screen bubbles?

im sure putting the iphone in dfu mode then resotre with itunes is all that's required for return to apple.

that's actually correct. all i ended up doing was a DFU restore and did not resync/activate it before taking it back. the guy didn't even bother turning it on when i gave it to him. he just checked to make sure the water tab in the headphone jack was still white, checked the serial numbers, and handed me a new iphone! went way smoother and easier than i expected.

So you're saying that he didn't even check to see if you had unlocked it? When was this??

I jailbroke 1.1.4 with ZiPhone 3.0. I did a simple restore after getting the phone into restore mode...do I have to do a DFU restore to upgrade to 2.0? My phone is "back to normal" with no traces of installer or other stuff. Thanks!

Bigdog, did you find an answer to your question? I'm also curious to know if you're an AT&T customer and whether what you did effected the legit AT&T activation tokens on your phone. Thanks.

    Default Ziphone and restore.

I have been trying now for over 12 hours to restore my iphone. I have firmware 1.1.4, I used Ziphone about 6 months ago and had no problems at all. But recently I have been have so many missed calls, so I need to return it to the store with the jailbreak gone. When I start itunes and try to restore I get various error messages, like errors 5,6,1611 and a few others, I have tried to use dfu mode but still get the same errors. After each attempt I am stuck with a black screen and nothing else, the only way to access the phone is to run Ziphone again. So I seem to be stuck with a phone that has a permanent jailbreak on it. I have downloaded the 1.1.4 and 2.0 ipsw files and used shift and restore to select the version I want., I tried the 2.1 download through itunes and still no luck. I have itunes 8.0, and have even tried 7.5. I have read that many pages on google and tried so many different ways that now I just feel like smashing the phone and buying a new one. BTW The phone is working it's just that I miss so many calls, that it needs to go to the shop. Any help or advive greatly appreciated. Thnx
