[TUT] iOS 5 iPhone 4S Custom Status Bar Wifi Bars/Signal Bars Solution for Winterboard
Nissan Guy here, By Trial and error I have found How to do Custom Wifi Bars, and Signal Bars for the springboard Status bar. iOS 5 Renamed the Signal/Wifi file names so the ones below are what you have to use to theme signal/wifi on iOS 5 iPhone 4S:
Image Sizes: 42x40 px for every file.
Images MUST be .PNG files!
File Structure: YourTheme/UIImages/
For Custom Signal Bars You will need the following file names... MUST BE EXACTLY AS SHOWN BELOW!
ColorOnGrayShadow_0_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_0_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_0_Bars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_1_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_1_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_1_Bars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_2_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_2_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_2_Bars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_3_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_3_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_3_Bars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_4_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_4_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_4_Bars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_5_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_5_Bars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_5_Bars@2x
For Custom Wifi Bars You will need the following file names... MUST BE EXACTLY AS SHOWN BELOW!
ColorOnGrayShadow_0_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_0_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_0_WifiBars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_1_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_1_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_1_WifiBars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_2_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_2_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_2_WifiBars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_3_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_3_WifiBars@2x

Where are the stock signal strength files located? I don't want to use Winterboard.
I looked around briefly and they're not in the System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app

I followed this tutorial and got the Wifi bars to work perfectly but the signal bars don't show. I've simply tried to copy and rename the images to act as signal bars but still nothing. Any ideas?

In case you were still wondering...those images are now apart of the [email protected] file located in /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework, you need to extract these via DavePeck's extractor kit or you can follow the tutorial here... http://modmyi.com/forums/general-iph...-tutorial.html If you want to bypass Winterboard you will need to extract the images via the above link which explains it all and DOES work and then repack it as a [email protected] and put that back in your iphone from where you sourced it from. Apparently all the PNGs need to be exactly the same size - not image size dimensions but file size or it will not theme.
Seems odd it doesn't work, if they are the same size and named as per the first post they should(I checked mine against this to be certain). What device do you have and iOS? Im guessing you are running Winterboard???... For me I placed all my images in MyTheme/Bundles/com.apple.UIKit and all my UI Images are in this folder (bundle) with all my themed images working correctly.Last edited by Jato_BZ; 04-18-2012 at 06:33 PM.

Hey are you able to check your Themed WiFi images are named as below?
Im on 5.1.1 Iphone 4S and mine are theming with the names as below,
EXACTLY AS SHOWN BELOW! These are case sensitive filenames so Uppercase and lowercase is important, i updated from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 with no issues with my signal or wifi bars not theming.
ColorOnGrayShadow_0_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_0_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_0_WifiBars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_1_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_1_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_1_WifiBars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_2_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_2_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_2_WifiBars@2x
ColorOnGrayShadow_3_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackEtch_3_WifiBars@2x
WhiteOnBlackShadow_3_WifiBars@2x
Do you have iFile? It is a good tweak from Cydia which will let you update filenames from within your iphone.
You need to navigate to YourTheme/Bundles/com.apple.UIKit and then make sure the WIFI bars are named as above.
Good luck

Great result! Nothing worse than unthemed icons or pngs!

Does anyone know of a chart of image file names for the iPhone 4s? There are certain things I would like to theme but I don't know exactly where they are located in the iPhone. I am new to creating themes but I have managed to make a few zeppelin logos thus far. It would be nice if there was a chart or table. I have searched Google but it seems everyone's list is basically the same... icons backgrounds etc. There is no "complete" list out there as far as I know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure that the image has to be exactley 42 pixels wide by 40 pixels high cause in other themes off cydia, the sizes are like 15x17 which is not to scale with 42x40 pixels?
I copied and pasted ur names for my .png pictures of my custom wifi logo but they only appear for springboard and lockscreen, can u plz help me?Last edited by LachyB; 07-16-2012 at 02:57 AM.

Finally got the signal working had to make a folder in themes called signal.theme then inside that folder I made another folder called UIImages and put all the files in there, 1 other thing in ifile you can press a blue arrow next to the folder press that and make sure owner says mobile and group says staff on the signal.theme folder and the UIImages folder.
I can't get the wifi to work because I can't find the whiteonblackshodow files??
