Custom Winterboard Themes on iOS4
This is concerning iOS4 only.
When I upgraded to iOS4 and jailbroke, only about half of my customizations from my WinterBoard theme still work. I have a habit of picking and choosing from full themes to make my own.
I would like to get a thread going to help other iOS4 themes saying what is and what is not working.
I'm using WinterBoard version 0.9.3211-1 and Summerboard support is on. All of my themes are of course under /private/var/stash/Themes/(themename).theme/
Here's what I have working:
/Bundles/com.apple.ATT_US (to change carrier logo)
Default_CARRIER_ATT.png
FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png
NOTE: these do not seem to work in apps that use data (facebook, weather, cydia, iheartradio, etc.) It reverts back to AT&T logo
/Bundles/com.apple.MediaPlayer (changes ipod controls)
nexttrack.png
pause.png
play.png
prevtrack.png
/Bundles/com.apple.springboard (changes popup ipod controls(double-press home button))
nexttrack.png
pause.png
play.png
prevtrack.png
/Folders/ChatKit.framework (SMS changes)
Balloon_1.png (sent text bubble color)
Balloon_2.png (received text bubble color)
SendButton.png
SendButtonPressed.png
All of my /Folders/appname.app customizations are working
My custom icons are working
My custom sms and voicemail sounds are working
What is not working
/Bundles/com.apple.springboard
basically nothing in the status bar is changing (service bars, battery charged, email alerts)
Also, the icons in my dock have grey backgrounds instead of transparent. When i move the icons up to the regular icon space, they are transparent. Any ideas? (image attached)
Feel free to contribute what is and is not working for your WinterBoard themes. I'll update this thread as I try new themes.

Thanks,

A couple of additions
Ok after a few boring days at work i figured out a couple more status bar changes
First I installed Notifier version 3.1-2
To change notification icons, under \Bundles\com.apple.springboard:
For calendar event notifications
Default_CAL.png
FSO_CAL.png
For IM notifications
Default_IM.png
FSO_IM.png
Missed Call notifications
Default_NCALL.png
FSO_NCALL.png
New E-mails
Default_NMAIL1.png
FSO_NMAIL1.png
New SMS
Default_NSMS.png
FSP_NSMS.png
Voicemail
Default_NVMAIL.png
FSO_NVMAIL.png
For lockscreen charging wallpapers
BatteryBG_(1-17).png
I would still like to be able to change wi-fi and 3g service bars and the alarm clock icon

wifi signal bars
ok got it
after 30min research i got it
ok 1st thing now on the ios4 the wifi signal bars are not located in the bundles (pretty much com.apple.springboard on ios4 doesnt exist anymore)
you just need to create a folder in your themes main folder: UIImages
in that folder you need to create 2 sets of wifi bars (one for the lock screen and one for the home screen [they are black wifi bars]
the next set is when you opened applications its called silver wifi bars
ill attach these pictures in the directories (these are the default ones) check link
name it the same
note:black wifibar= home & lock screen bars
silver wifibar= when apps opened wifi bars
if you also want to change battery on status bar ask here on forum and i will write how to do that to
hit thanks if i helped =)
here is the file:this the example folder with the directory and name (wifibar).zipLast edited by 7r0na1do17; 07-19-2010 at 03:17 AM.

Can you please give directions for any other mods? ie: battery in status bar, 3g logo and reception bars?Last edited by iwindoezy; 07-19-2010 at 04:05 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Hey all I have been reading your posts and noticed these things last night as I too love to modify themes and pick others apart to make my own, it's fun, and rewarding! So i will be doing some research about the filesystem change and get back to you all. Good work so far!

You have to make the apps shadow transparent too (WalllpaperIconDockShadowT)
(WallpaperIconDockShadow)(WallpaperIconShadowT) (WallpaperIconShadow)

08-02-2010, 09:03 PM #12
/Folders/ChatKit.framework (SMS changes)
Balloon_1.png (sent text bubble color)
Balloon_2.png (received text bubble color)
SendButton.png
SendButtonPressed.png
I can't seem to get my CHATKIT bubbles to work and I did follow above.
I have iPhone 4 I put my chatkit.framework in my theme/folders/chatkit.framework in that folder I put 2 different bubbles as Balloon_1.png and Balloon_2.png Is there something I am doing wrong?
Please help! Thank you!

After some research i found out that there are 2 versions of the balloons, one basic(like the 1's u replaced) and another with "@2x" at the end of it. so basically u need to make another image of those bubbles with 2 times the resolution named [email protected]/[email protected] (yes u still need both versions)

I solved the problem for the signal bars. It has to be:
Silver_0_Bars.png (0-5)
Black_0_Bars.png (0-5)
Placed inside a UIImages folder.

this is all completely new to me, so i don't know if this information is going to help you all or not. bare with me if these are newb questions...
i just jailbroke my iphone 4 last night. i am on 4.0.1. i downloaded a bunch of battery themes for when the charger is plugged into my iphone, and none of them work. i have tried 17 different ones with no success. full theme packages work....for example the resident evil theme, but not the individual battery themes for when the phone is plugged in. almost forgot to mention they are all listed in winterboard, and summerboard is enabled.
can anyone help me with this? thank you...Last edited by cr4ck3d; 08-03-2010 at 03:39 AM.

i also am having trouble with the bubble colors. i really dont like the whole green and white sms bubbles. i had the tkidki theme and tokidoki adios sms. the background changed but the bubbles remain green and white. any suggestions on how to change that? also, does anyone else notice that the themes on the iphone 4g is not as crisp as the default? thanks in advance.
