winterboard wont theme my 3g

i jail broke with redsn0w 0.9.4 i believe is the version, i have cydia works fine, installed winterboard, grabbed a few complete as well as non complete themes from cydia, i open winterboard goto themes, put a check next to them, respring, and nothing, screen stays the same, not sure why, its running in summerboard mode i have tried turning off summer board mode as well but still doesnt work, any suggestions? ive tried atleast 15 themes that i used to have on my gf's iphone. help is appreciated will give thanks
