how do you hide icons on the dock?

I am trying to hide the icons on the dock due to the theme i am using
and I cannot figure a way to hide the dock icons but i want the labels there..
can anyone help me?

There are a lot of themes that have transparent icons for use all over your springboard. Make one in photoshop.
