Both the battery % and the battery are showing up even though I enabled battery % in SB Settings. Is this a Winterboard issue, theme issue or SB Settings issue?

it's not winterboard issue.. it's Push/Fetch prob...

GO Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch New Data ->Push: OFF & Fetch: Manually

I did as you suggested and no dice. I'm not clear on how the status bar problem would be affected by push? I'm only trying to eliminate the battery icon and show only the battery percentage.
