absolutely not. the only thing that i dont like to run with winterboard is vWallpaper because it never runs smooth enough for me. a little bit of performance is not too much payment for a great customized interface

It can really get to me sometimes, like when I'm trying to send a text real quick at work . But other than that it's totally worth it I would say. Is it really just having winterboard installed that does it though?

I'm afraid so, Ego. If you look around, it's a popular issue.

honestly broomhead, I've noticed no significant improvements after using one1's method.

it slows it down but its worth it..but i have notice improvements by deleting all the unused themes in winterboard...and as for the sms app i loaded the keyboard that im using the old way in the .artwork file and the app loads faster now....

when running the themes im using from winterboard i try putting everything im using into one folder....wallpapers, icons, wallpaper.html, widget.html and ive noticed the phone running better....basically anything that i use that is permenant i put in using winscp the old way, battery, signal bars, sliders, etc ....so i try only having one or two "theme" folders in winterboard.....

i know some may say it defeats the purpose of winterboard a little because if i want to change my theme i have to load it on on the computer but ive noticed i never really changed my theme on the go...so i just use a wallpaper rotation on the themes to keep them fresh

I did this around the first of November on my 2g 8gig and it definitely helped, but it was still pretty slow on launching the sms app(s), clock app, and settings. Restoring or the one1 method didn't really make any noticeable difference. Removing WB but staying J/B did speed things up.

I just upgraded to a 3G 16gig two days ago. Came with 2.1 installed. Tried a few things after using QuickPwn. After only J/B, it was still very snappy, not enough of a delay on settings, clock, or anything that worried me. Installed only mySMS, and it was reporting 3.3-3.6 seconds to load. Then installed WB. mySMS started reporting ~4 second load times. Then, fully themed the 3G back to how I originally had my 2G 8gig, and it's now reporting ~4.5 second load times. I have 2 theme folders, one is Aquoah (default setup), and the other is my custom one (weather widget, clock widget, and various smaller themes like changing the icons in the status bar). All in all, still more snappy moving and launching apps than my 2G. If it progressively gets slower like it seemed to on my 2G, I'll definitely remove WB again.

I recently restored my 3G because it just started to seem too slow and buggy. Not exactly sure what was doing it but when I restored and jailbroke again I only installed the bare essentials. I did not install Winterboard and I'm really surprised at how quick everything seems to work now. I really do miss being able to theme my phone but right now I'm really enjoying the snappiness of my phone.

I used One1's method and I see no sowdown whatsoever... I even have a Vwallpaper loaded (with the fallout 3 pipboy theme)... was super slow before. Some say they don;t notice any improvements with one1's method (quicpwn vs pwnage) but I will say that my slowdown was NOT caused by winterboard. It runs just as speedy with or without winterboard now.

Does doing One1's method have any point if you are quickpwning a brand new, restored phone?

I don't find it slows down if you keep your themes down to a minimal, I tend to set them and leave them as they are for ages so it's fine for me

I did notice that, after installing Winterboard, applications do take significantly longer to load. It doesn't bother me, though, just a quirk. Small, teeny, tiny price to pay for the ability to theme, from my point of view.

I do have quite a few theme files installed that I am not using, so I will try deleting those, and see if it's any better. I don't really care either way, though
