Keep default icons with custom theme?
Is there anyway to keep the default icons (ones that come on phone originally) and still use a custom theme? I like a couple themes, but don't like their icons. I've tried rearranging the themes in winterboard, but couldn't achieve this.
Searched and couldn't really find a clear answer.

Of course, if you are able to use ssh then you can just go into the theme folder which you can get to by going to the applications folder from the root drive and going up one parent folder. There are two different folders for me i dont know if it will be different but they should both say theme with stuff after, then all u have to do is find the theme you want, click on it, and delete the icon folder. That should do it

So, are you just wanting the background?? Or are you wanting icons from one theme, and a background from another? But, yeah. You can pretty much do anything with it.

Yes, just wanting basically the background.
Pretty much figured it out. Got the background I like with stock icons. Thanks guys, this is easier than I thought it would be for changing themes and such!Last edited by gman8966; 09-29-2008 at 08:15 PM.

^^Got ya, basically you can SSH into the iphone and replace the background image in the "theme" directory for the theme your wanting to change. Each theme has a directory, the background image is directly inside the main folder. I believe its background.png

Its too bad there's not a file manager program that can go straight on the phone. Coming from Windows Mobile I loved Total Commander, made things like this very nice.

"file manager program" for iphone
There is one. It's called ifile, in which you can browse through your whole device and do almost anything with ur files. That's how you can hack games, make your own custom theme, etc.
Btw I'm looking for the directory to the original Iphone theme. I need to check the UISounds to know how many I need to replace, and what they do. I started my own custom theme: Aperture Science Winterboard theme. But it'll probably never get released.
