Can not unlock new Iphone

Hi,
I am new.
I bought my Iphone last week in NY. Now I am outside USA.
I tried to activate the Iphone for 3 days but I could not.
Then I found someone doing it, paid 10$ and he activated. But HE told me
that my Iphone is new, so he cannot (yet) unlock the phone. is it right?

Serial Number 7S739G7WW..
Version 1.0.2 (1C28)

P.S. Itried to avtivate and unlock with my pc. I don't know if the guy used a mac.

Can some one please tell me if I can unlock my phone? or as the guy told me, Do I need to wait?

You have the 1.0.2 firware and you can unlock this phone. No need to wait. The only one you cant unlock at this point is Firmware version 1.1.1. I would suggest you follow one of the many guides on how to unlock found on this website, or if you dont feel savvy enough, seek out another person to help you unlock it. The process is quite simple actually.

I am in Istanbul.
But, the guy who activated the I phone, first checked the Iphone black box (read the sticker in the back) and said it is not possible to unlock. but he can activate the phone. I think he downgrade it to 1.0.2
Are you sure I can unlock it?
Which way do you suggest to unlock with a pc?

if you saying it came with a higher version than 1.0.2 than no you cannot unlock just an ipod..

just use it as an ipod and wifi for now
