Thumbs down Failure to Restore ACK!

I don't know what to do. I was having problems syncing a modded/jailbroken phone with iTunes, so I decided to just restore. I plug my iPhone in to the computer, and hold down Sleep/Wake & Home and I get the Yellow Triangle. But, I get the attached screenshot, which has a little bubble window before it saying this USB Device Not Recognized. I have Windows XP, iBrickR 0.8, iTunes 7.4.2
I can't sync the phone with iTunes and iBrickr doesn't recognize the phone as plugged in.
How can I sync/restore/fix this phone? HELP!!

    Ok, restart your computer...
Hold the power button until your phone goes off..
Press the power button to let it go back on..
Force it into recovery mode.. (probably not optional.. but hold the power and home buttons anyways..)
then open itunes after your computer has restarted.. and try again

Trying that right now... No good.

The Phone just shows the yellow triangle/Please connect to iTunes with the same "USB Device has malfunctioned" bubble.

Thank you so much for trying to help me out.

Hmm.. I had a problem similar to this.. that is why I said..

could it be the USB cable itself?

Try picking up a new one.. if you have the extra money.

Or would it have nothing to do with that?

I've been wondering about that possibility too... Do regular iPod USB cables work with the iPhone? I know the FireWire one fits, but doesn't function cause I tried it.

    I dont have firewire..

But I believe they all have a 30 pin connector.. so you should be able to use a regular iPod cable with your iPhone

Ok.... I'm gonna try to borrow my friend's cable tommorrow. I'll post again same time as my first post (Today, 05:08 PM EST in the Northeastern US) when I've got it and have tried again.

Can you try going back to an older version of itunes? It looks like itunes 7.4.2 is having issues with ibrickr and could be worth a shot trying an older version.
