Please help.. problem with installing apps

Hi, Im using total commander to install apps (same as winscp just using the usb cable) and when I copy an app into the applications folder; take customize for example, it copies most of the file but it doesent copy the actual customize application or the icon (they come up as 0 bites). I tried using Pc suite but the same thing happened, any idea what the problem is?

Dude where do you download the apps from?
