Apple Mobile Sync Stopped

I need help ...

i've been searching all day and i can't find a solution for this prolem..

i can't get itunes to sync witht he iphone.. "AppleMobileSync Stopped" error keeps poping up when ever i try to sync

iphone 2g 2.2.1
windows Vista
Itunes 8something <latest ver> just reinstalled

AppleMobileSync is a background process.

Check to see if its running in Task Manager under "Processes".

Usually a reboot will fix it.

i've rebooted a number of times.. and its not running because the error stops it.. it is running once i reboot. but once i try to sync in itune it <applemobilesync> crashes
