Please HELP

I just bought a brand new Dell. it has Vista which SUXXXXXX. I cant get my iphone to be recognized by itunes. When i plug in phone it beeps, i can download pics, but the iphone will not pop up on itunes. we installed the 64bit and still nothing. I have spent over 8 hours total with apple and dell on the phone and no solution. Is it VISTA? does anyone know any secrets? I think its the drivers. it asks to put in disk to find driver. Obviously iphone doesnt have one.

It would help to know what all the support reps from Apple and Dell tried first before we all start throwing out random suggestions.
