Still cant get Iphone to sync Can anyone help???
hi
Ive been trying to fix this for a few weeks now ...ive been searching but cant figure it out..
i have a 2g iphone with 2.1 jailbroken with quickpwn....i dont have many apps installed:
cydia
Installer(which i dont use)
winterboard
flashlight
ireboot
iblacklist
cycorder
snapture
bosstool
everything works fine never had any problems....but then i went to load some new ringtones and when i hit the sync button the phone rebooted in about 3 seconds....i have 2 other 2g iphones that i jailbroke the same exact way and they both sync fine,....
so i was told to do a restore and i did and i set up the phone as a new phone, i did not restore from backup, and still having the same problem
but the phone syncs fine right after a restore before i jailbreak using quickpwn....but after i use quickpwn it sends into a reboot....
the first time i was using itunes 8.0....then i updated to 8.1 and did another restore to see if i would fix it....i restored...setup as a new phone sync all my music and ringtones....ran quickpwn and tried to sync again and it sent the phone to a reboot......
so ive tried restoring twice and after i quickpwn i can no longer sync my iphone...its not that big of a deal other than i cant add new music or ringtones through i tunes...but i would like to be able to sync once and a while b/c i have my contacts saved on windows and i would like to update that from the phone for new contacts i might add..
if anyone can help please let me know
Thank youLast edited by Ice9812; 10-10-2008 at 09:25 AM.

wow that's really weird. I guess the next step might be to try and download another ipsw file and see if you can restore to that... that might help you out. Did you say you are able to sync when its on stock firmware?

Are you unlocking and jailbreaking?
What did you unlock/jailbreak with the first time - Ziphone?

yes i can sync when its stock firmware but after i use quickpwn i cant sync it sends the phone into a reboot...when i first upgraded to 2.1 i dl the stock firmware from iclarified and then when i tried the restore to fix the problem i tried the firmware that itunes dl..still the same problem..
the funny thing is i did my girlfriends 2g phone the same way and i never have a problem with hers i can sync new music and ringtones on anytime i want....
im only jailbreaking i have att service.....the phone was never modified from stock until 2.x software.....my first phone that i had i broke and then i bought this one from a friend who wanted the new 3g but she never knew anything about jailbreaking ....so the phone has only been jailbroke using quickpwn on 2.x....i didnt have this problem when i had 2.0.2 on the phone....
im stuck b/c everytime i want new music or ringtones i need to do a restore....its a pain in the ***...
Thanks for your replys maybe we will be able to figure it out..
one question there are 2 files that i see when looking in the iphone using winscp..there in:
private/var/mobile/Media
com.apple.itunes.lock_sync
com.apple.itunes.syncing
what do these two files do?
and if i delete them what would happen to the phone?
if deleted and tried to sync again what would happen?
Thank you

Since you have the file path, I would copy the syncing file onto your computer desktop. From there I would delete syncing file from the iphone. Power the phone off then on and see if it will sync.
If it doesn't work you can just put it back in where it was.
P.S. I don't have the syncing file in my media folder, just have the lock_syncLast edited by center_99_99; 10-11-2008 at 10:34 AM.

i tried deleeting that file com.apple.itunes.syncing....and it still didnt sync....it sent my phone into a reboot like before....but another thing i noticed when i first plugged it in it connected to apple for the genius info and that sync went fine....but when that was done and i tried to sync it myself it sent it to a reboot.....so if you have any other ideas or if anyone else has an idea ill try it....Thank you
edit: when i ssh back into my phone after i tried to sync and it went to reboot the com.apple.itunes.syncing file is back....so that must be a temp file that is used for syncing or something
there is also a file in private/var/mobile/media called:
jailbreak.log
is that suppossed to be there?
now i just ran into something interesting.....i took my girlfriend iphone and made some new ringtones and put some new music on and it syncd fine....then i noticed i misspelled and artist name so i went to change it and i hit sync again and it came up and asked to send diagnostic info to apple and i looked and i looked at the details and its a file in the computer under
owner/application data/applecomputer/logs/crash report/mobile device/"your phone name"
and it had a bunch of crash logs and plist made with every crash log and some of them were cydia logs and 3rd party app logs so i choose dont send and right after i hit that button it reboot the phone
then i tried to sync again and it wont sync just like mine it sends it to reboot....and now when i check that folder again on the computer there is another one in "your phone name" called panics and that has a panic crashlog and a plist made for each crash
so i wonder if the new itunes has something in it to cause thisLast edited by Ice9812; 10-13-2008 at 02:26 AM.
