    Default Real VNC Help

hi, i have bought Real VNC enterprise 4.2 (or what ever the latest version it)

i thought would be very easy to use but its not.

    ok here goes...

i installed VNC server on my brothers pc, and the viewer on mine, the main pc (my brothers) the ip is 192.168.#.#
and my laptop which has the viewer on is 192.168.#.#

this works fine, i can control his pc which is a laugh, but we are in the same network.

so im not at work, and i installed the server on my laptop last night.

i checked the works ip address, and thats also 192.168.#.#
so how is it ment to pick up my ip address if all ips are the same?
    im really confused?

how can i access my laptop from work?

    please help

Just a little hint, you should never give out ip addresses on forums. You never know who is using this info. Your work IP address will not be the same unless your office resides in your home and uses the same wireless router. Whenever you see an IP address with the only difference being the last digit means that there are three units plugged or that have been activated on that rireless router. Make sure you get the proper IP address from your IT department. Then you will be able to do the same as you do at home.

Your IP address 192.1.... is the internal IP.

You need the external. Use What's My IP to find it.

You may then need to open ports on your router and if you don't have a static IP address you'll need a DNS. Use something like No-IP, it works well for me.

Alternatively, if you want to access from your iPhone, get Jaadu from the App store and download Jaadu connect and it will do everything for you.
