i need help please!!

it has been a few months since i had time to keep up with you guys. i have a 1.0.2 iphone already modded. im having a few little problems like:
Installer doesnt work anymore, an it keeps randomly sending me back to the home page. I want to virginize and start over. is that possible?

Also my laptop crashed so i got a new one and it has the newest version of i tunes on it. Is that still a concern with the 1.0.2

Why not upgrade to 1.1.4? Or even just 2.0? Seriously, most of the apps from the "old days" have been ported. (Except for the extremely useless apps).

is it that easy? can i just upgrade? last i checked it was risky to upgrade, possible bricking, etc...? or am i way off on that.. if at all possible i would greatly appreciate detailed steps to upgrade if that is an option
