SMS Alerts Won't Play but Still There

I'm running 2.0.0 on a first gen iPhone, jailbroken with WinPWN, and the alert tones are still on my phone, I can see them when I SSH into it, however when I receive a text nothing plays on my phone. Yes, the volume is up; yes the switch is on ring; and yes, I have a tone selected in settings. Oh and the call tones still play.

I haven't tried to change them. The only reason I got SSH/Winscp was to get into my phone to see if they were there.

However, my phone randomly started playing the alert again. I know this doesn't help the other guy except to give him hope lol. I wish I knew what I did, if I actually did anything....

EDIT: I DO remember toggling the "airplane mode" on by accident shortly before I realized I had EDGE working. You can try that and see if it has any effect for you.

EDIT #2: Agh, the EDGE keeps disappearing on me. And to get it back for a while I just toggle Airplane Mode on and then turn it back off.
